Cooler Master Storm Inferno Gaming Mouse

Cooler Master has really been on a winning streak of late with the Storm Series gaming lineup, and with the Inferno’s release they are looking to continue that trend. We’ve seen the previous Storm products to showcase some gorgeous aesthetics, full features, and excellent functionality for computer enthusiasts and gamers in particular. And the Inferno succeeds in accomplishing that as well. Aesthetics and features are where the Inferno makes its mark but we must also look at what that costs in return. Set to cost about $60 USD, it is priced competitively for a gaming mouse, sitting squarely in the mix with other popular competitors. It comes with some very nice features such as the Storm Tactics button, a good number of buttons as well, great build quality, nice finish, and comfortable ergonomics. Cooler Master has also packaged an extensive and impressive software control panel for the Inferno as well, allowing further customizations that go beyond the simple but effective plug-and-play available with the onboard memory. The Inferno doesn’t bring any earth shattering innovations to the market, but it does bring some nice minor additions and executes them well in a solid package. There are a couple points to note here though. From a comfort perspective, the Inferno is lovely and natural, but users with large hands will probably find it just slightly too small for their liking. Conversely, though, if you have thinner or smaller hands then you’ll probably love the Inferno. One size doesn’t really fit all in this instance unfortunately. And while the ergonomics are a distinct improvement upon the Sentinel, for example, the finger buttons are on the thin side and along with the click-wheel, they are just slightly a bit too stiff, though I’m sure that users can become acclimated after some daily use. For what you get, $60 is a very good value for your money in return. Clearly, Cooler Master is betting the Inferno’s features and capabilities are worth the price tag and that gamers will agree. If you’re looking for a mouse that is sleek, comfortable, feature-rich, and won’t break the bank, then the Inferno is worth a very serious look. If you have bear-sized hands then it’s probably not for you, but for the rest of us normal folk, the Cooler Master Inferno is a very good gaming mouse at a very respectable price. read review...

Cooler Master Storm Inferno mouse review

It should be no surprise that the mouse as presented today is a very good. Decent, sturdy and extremely configurable. The icing on top of the cake is the extremely well developed software application that allows all kinds of configuration options in several levels. The Storm Inferno mouse has to be the most versatile and programmable product I have ever seen. While that might sound good, it is also something that a lot of people seriously do not want. A lot of people want a mouse that runs straight out of the box without a plethora and gazillion of options fired off at them. I dunno, Cooler Master might actually have overshot it's target. Don't get me wrong, personally I like configurable presets very much ... but I have experience in programming and have a refined understanding of technology, specs and features. For the average to novice gamer, this mouse simply might be a little too overwhelming when we look at the software implementation. Now ton the physical side of things the reality is also that mouse isn't perfect either, you'll need to get used to the weight of it. If you pick it up with two fingers precisely in the middle then you'll notice that all the weight is located in the back of the mouse, and that feels unbalanced. Next to that, though I have big hands, you'll probably constantly reposition your fingers on the mouse. Yeah, I guess I am saying it wasn't a perfect fit for me alright. You know what, somehow it seems a step back from the CM Sentinel Advance mouse. Scanning speed and accuracy are really good. You know you can reinvent a mouse over and over again, 200, 400, 1600 and these days even 5000 DPI are mostly marketing and niche options. This 4000 DPI rated mouse is by far precise enough. If you like to go more advanced then activate the profile software. If you want options you can configure the mouse in-depth all based on your personal preferences. The software allows everything to be configured that you can desire, profiles, macros, scan speeds, DPI sensitivity per profile per axis and on and on. Maybe let me throw in a tip for Cooler Master, if you have such advanced software -- why not offer pre-defined game profiles for selected games which users can download and activate ? Overall we feel the CM Storm Inferno is a pretty good gaming mouse. It feels good, has nice options, very decent tracking speed. As such it's recommended. But do understand that this mouse is not for everybody, if you dislike application complexity .. stay away from it, and if you have large hands this might not be the right mouse for you either. Other then that it is a great gaming mouse with an complicated yet excellent software suite. Given the sheer design, good looks and versatility we would definitely like to recommend the CM Storm Inferno. Under SKU SGM-4000-KLLN1-GP it will be released in mid-August 2010, at a price of roughly 50 EUR / 60 USD, and you don't even HAVE to play MMO's to use it. read review...

I absolutely love this mouse. While I’d prefer it to be wireless, I can live with it being wired and it doesn’t hinder it too much. There are so many buttons and options it can do anything you could ever want it to do. The responsiveness is amazing and even though I thought the middle button/wheel button was difficult to press, there’s really no detractors. The Inferno is a very solid, well built mouse. The only other features it could use is weight adjustment and higher DPI. Available directly at the CM Store for $59.99, I definitely recommend putting this high on your list if you are shopping for a new mouse. read review...

The Cooler Master Storm Inferno isn't perfect, especially when it comes down to comfort. First, its glossy surface where the palm of the hand rests does not allow air to circulate, so that palm can get sweaty very easily in intense gaming. Secondly, the location of its Storm Tactics button which doubles the possible number of programmed actions is amiss. Pressing it requires displacing the hand. This is definitely not a good thing to do in the middle of a fight. The overall shape however is very comfortable and feels natural. Furthermore, physical customization is rather limited. There are no possibilities of changing the mouse weight and changing the LED colors, except the profile button. The lighting scheme can still be customized though, so it isn't that bad. There are some mice that even go further than these two features; for example, the Microsoft Razer Habu lets one change the button's position on its left side. The Inferno does feature five DPI settings on each profile though, adjustable on the go if some buttons are programmed for it. That is one great feature that not many mice can claim to have. The one thing that the Inferno merits praise for, however, is its software customization. It can execute complex macros and scripts created by the user. With nine fully programmable buttons and the Storm Tactics Key providing eight more possible actions, one can set up to 17 different executions per profile! If that isn't enough, the rodent can memorize up to three fully-customized profiles, thanks to its onboard 128KiB of memory and its Sentinel-X microprocessor. It has reached a point where finding a use for each possibility would be quite hard. Now what about memorizing all of them? Overall, anyone wanting that insanely large freedom of software customization should consider the Cooler Master Storm Inferno. It is a nice addition to the lineup of gaming mice currently available and quite a unique offering on the market. read review...

We hebben bij Hardware.Info al heel wat noemens- of zelfs begerenswaardige muizen besproken en wat ons betreft past de Inferno zeker in het rijtje , naast de Razer Deathadder/Mamba en de Steelseries Xai. Zeker omdat het al te krijgen is voor €49,- in onze prijsvergelijker. De functionaliteit van deze muis is goed uitgewerkt als het gaat om macro’s en het heeft ook een goede plaatsing van de extra knoppen naast de basisknoppen. Ook de multiplier key waarmee de acht standaard knoppen voorzien kunnen worden van een tweede functionaliteit spreekt ons erg aan. Het aanpassen van de gevoeligheid van de muis is ook intuïtief gedaan met de 5 standaardwaardes per profiel en de mogelijkheid om deze waardes per direct met het scrollwiel aan te passen, zonder tussenkomst van de software. Het enige echte minpunt is het beperkte aantal beschikbare profielen, maar het zijn er voldoende om voor de meeste gangbare game genres een geschikt profiel samen te stellen, afgestemd op je eigen voorkeuren. De CM Storm Inferno krijgt van ons een Gold Award vanwege zijn unieke mogelijkheden en goed doordachte layout, al geldt zoals bij alle muizen: probeer ‘m even uit in de winkel om te kijken of de vorm ook jouw hand past – de Inferno is wat aan de korte kant. read review...

The Inferno provides both the casual and hard-core gamer with an exceptional mouse experience. A mouse that can be used for normal day to day activities however when called upon gives us the tools and precision we need for top end gaming and eSports activities. CM Storm Inferno Review

We can’t find an awful lot of faults with the CM Storm Inferno. It’s well made, comfortable, accurate and has an almost infinite level of adjustability. The extra buttons it carries may not be appreciated by everyone, and the fact that it’s weighty may put others off, but we enjoyed our time with the Inferno and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. At £40 it’s also great value, especially given the upward trend of gaming mouse pricing. read review...
