"...when the Cooler Master Hyper Z600 heatsink is equipped with at least one 120mm fan, it's an excellent high performance cooler.”

"We were pleasantly surprised to find that Cooler Master can rightfully label the Hyper Z600 as a passive cooler, performing well on even a slightly overclocked quad core processor. Adding active cooling and excellent airflow, however, are the key to turning a well-performing passive cooler into a solution that should compete with the best tower designs on the market."

"I would recommend this cooler to anyone who has the room in their case, is going to be doing some extensive overclocking, as well as anyone just looking for a simple upgrade."

"Given the potential for the Cooler Master Z600 to perform exceptionally well with about zero noise, it earns the "Whisper Quiet" award."

"If your computer was set up on an open test bed or in a massive case with a side window, the Z600 would be an excellent choice for a low noise cooler that would get everyone's attention. It may not be flashy, but it will not be missed! Balancing the cooling performance with the potential size issues, the Z600 also earns a conditional "Recommended" award."

"The cooling performance of the Coolermaster Hyper Z600 is very good for a passive CPU cooler. What really makes this cooler shine is the total silence ... of course it has no fans!"

"...the Z600 from Coolermaster definitely is an awesome cooler and when compared to a performance fan assisted cooler such as the Asus Triton it keeps with the pace and when in fan assisted modes it outperforms the Amazing, which is no mean feat, I assure you."

"this cooler will be of great value and interest to the owners of quiet PCs."
"...Hyper Z600 can cope easily with a new quad-core QX9650 running at 3.7GHz or old Q6600 working at 3.42GHz. But the most remarkable thing is that this is far not the maximum of the cooler’s potential."
"With one or, better, two quiet fans, the modest passive Hyper Z600 turns into a deadly weapon against hot overclocked processors."

Passive it cools better then an Intel stock cooler. Under full load it is only one degree over Intel's cooler on idle.

I do, however, like the design and styling of this “larger than life” cooler. It seems that the points that Cooler Master designed for, such and clearing a large north bridge cooler, and passive AMD 89Watt (or lower) capabilities come at a price. A quick look over at Newegg.com shows this cooler can be delivered to your door for just under $70 plus shipping cost. While the Hyper Z600R is a sufficient cooler, the price may lend to its downfall in sales. I was able to achieve the same temperatures with coolers of just over half its cost, but those coolers didn’t have the foresight that Cooler Master has provided in this cooler fitting on the motherboard itself.

PROS:

* Potential for passive cooling
* Low dBA blue LED fan
* 6 Heat pipe configuration
* Innovative mounting design
* Mirror coated copper base
* High clearance for most north bridge coolers

As you can see the Cooler Master Hyper does a fantastic job of cooling our processor, I should note that for some reason the OCCT software did no recognize that fact that the processor was overclocked to 2.8 GHz, instead it just registered it as being at default speed. So let's take a look at the pros and cons of the Hyper and see what we end up with.

PROS:

    * Superb cooling when a fan is used
    * Extremely quiet even using a fan.
    * Well built/100% aluminum
    * Easy to install

CONS

    * Monstrous size
    * May not fit in all cases
    * Price $69.99

If you are in the market for a heatsink that will reduce even the hottest processor down to an acceptable operating temperature then the Cool Master Hyper is the ideal choice for you. One final note please don't consider taking a case with this heatsink installed to a LAN Party unless you live at the place where it is being held.
